The gap will never close until women start taking the same less impressive but high paying jobs that men do.

Sure women want to be doctors and lawyers and politicians and CEO's but they refused to take those un-prestigious but high paying jobs like welder, pipe fitter, electrician, construction worker, mechanic, plumber etc.

Women love to fill up those high end jobs and they take the easy low end jobs such as administration, sales clerk, waitress, dispatcher and so on. They like the clean jobs, the easy jobs.

Men are willing to do it all.

And for that they deserve a higher salary.

When women are willing to take on the hard jobs, the dirty jobs, the dangerous jobs, then the gap will disappear.

That is what it will take.

If society deems that a Starbucks barista should earn the same as a garbage man, society has fucked up.

That simply cannot and should not happen. Those hard, dirty and dangerous jobs deserve a high salary.

You want the pay gap to disappear, start working like a man and start making similar choices that a man would make. Only then will it vanish... Until then, shut up and live with it.

I mean it's not wrong.

There is a pay gap between men and women.

Buts its not due to blatant misogyny.

It's because men work more hours, retire later, work more dangerous hours, choose better paying majors and are more likely to ask for raises.

"If you want to close the pay gap, change your major from feminist dance theory to electrical engineering." --me, also someone smarter before me.

The "pay gap" is really female privilege. Cause women don't work as much cause they don't need to cause Men are systemically reduced into being providers. I would love for there to be no pay gap as that means I am free from being an ATM. I love Bernie, but on gender issues he has got it backwards. Men are oppressed, and the "pay gap" is proof

It doesn't help to deny it because there is a gap but it just isn't down to the vague accusations of sexism put forward. It is down to decisions freely made by men and women. Women between the age of 18 and 30 living in metropolitan areas who have never married or had any children earn on average 8% more than men in the same demographic. Is this "wage gap" down to sexism? This "gap" narrows and reverses when children come along. Women predominantly take the time from work or go back part-time when children are on the scene. This happens because women are hypergamous. If they didn't go out of their way to marry men who earned as much as possible and more importantly have prospects of Higher earnings in the years to come then they, in the same way that men don't, then women, would be more likely to be the main wage earner and as a result it would make far more sense for the men to be the main caregiver and possibly go part time or pack in while kids are young. Of course this will never happen until women stop rating a partners potential earnings as highly. Growing up young men observe this in society all around them. It is why young men are primed to go after money in a way that women aren't. Heres a little nugget that many people don't talk about, when men choose the careers and work/life balances that the average woman does, they earn less than the average man too. Hypergamy is the unacknowledged major engine driving much of the gender earnings gap.

I don't know about where you live but where I live the top 1% of earners pay 29% of all income tax, the top 20% of earners pay 80% of all income tax and the bottom 50% pay no income tax. Yet strangely there is no equal tax day around April when we acknowledge that 80% stop paying tax and the top 20% take over and pay for the rest of the year. 🤔

Pay gap exists, but it's against men, not women. Haven't we already seen tons of programs, companies, businesses, etc that ACTUALLY pay men less because of their gender already? While the fake pay gap that's "against women" is nothing but utter lies. Men simply risk it all, work longer and take less days off.
