Men require different support.

Now men's issues need more discussions than women's right now to create a fairer system.

Yes, in certain areas like mental health. It's not black and white

Yes I meant mental health

Sorry for not making it clear

I have 2 girls and a son. My 2 girls have gone through counseling from their school for kids on crisis as they come from a broken home. My son (and middle child) has never been offered the same support. He's never been offered any support from the school.

Why is he being overlooked?

More support than what?

The disagreement seems mostly pedantic. They think you mean "more support than women".

no men require more support than women

Look at suicide rates

That person is 100% right. Men should absolutely have more support than what they are getting, but it shouldn't come at the expense of women. If that's the case, then it would be feminism in reverse.

Then infinite funds should exist, which can never be the case.

Any time you designate any group as special and protected (race, religion, sex, sexuality, language) and use affirmative action to help them, you automatically do so at the expense of the rest of the population.

[–]FrankTM26 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm well aware of affirmative action and how it infantilizes those under its umbrella.

Your assume that resources are fairly shared currently with that claim. It is much easier to find special doorways for care for women than it is for men. They are much more likely to be offered care than men.

It would take someone doing the research to prove my claims but it is revealing that to my knowledge this isn't anybody's role.

[–]FrankTM26 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Your assume that resources are fairly shared currently with that claim.

I didn't assume anything, you and the other comments under me did. I know the resources aren't fair nor equal. I just simply stated that we should create solutions that are fair and equitable and not at the expense of others. If they are not, then it would be no better than feminism, that claims to have fair and equitable solutions for women, but it almost always comes at the expense of men in every regard.

It is much easier to find special doorways for care for women than it is for men. They are much more likely to be offered care than men.

I 100% agree with this. Us as men need applicable resources to help us when we need it and it needs to be more readily available.

One thing I learned from an mra in my region is you probably need permission from the gatekeepers of services for women to create government contracts for a men's service.

If they aren't saying yes, the government won't take that risk. And to get that permission, your have to declare that the money for men's services is not going to come from women's services.
