Male privilege does exist. But so does female privilege. And women are likely privileged more than men are.

If men are privileged, I would ask why it is that women have more legal rights than men.

For example,

Women have reproductive rights and can get abortions or put their kids up for adoption, without the consent of the father. Meanwhile men are forced to pay child support if the mother decides to keep it. Men do not have a right to paper abortions ("paternal surrender").
Women are favored in divorce and child custody decisions. If a man wants to be a father, he is forced to jump through expensive legal hoops, sometimes only to get weekend visits. Only two US states have passed equal child custody laws. Nowhere else in the world has this.
Sexual assault and domestic violence laws favor women, even though men make up half of all rape victims, and a majority of all domestic violence victims. The social views on this are equally distorted.
Not a legal right but people believe women by default when it's a man's word vs a woman's word.
Also not a legal right but men make up a majority of the homeless, the disenfranchised, etc. Men live shorter lives, are forced to work more than women, commit suicide at higher rates, etc.

If men were truly privileged I doubt any of those things would be true.

That's a fluid concept that depends on situtations.

Maybe in one situation a man is privileged in another disadvantaged... The situations were men are privileged are getting quite rare.

It also depends on personal preference. Maybe you have a privilege in one field but absolutely no intereset in that field. So that privilege would be worth nothing for the individual.

You might want to look into the origins of discussing male privilege. Privilege as a talking point has increased steadily over time:

I think its increase is owed to left-wing politicians and social scientists playing on peoples' sense of victimhood/disenfranchisement/disadvantage/inequality. By discussing where the notion initially began as well as its increasing attention, your essay might have a good psychological introduction. Good luck!

Males are "privileged" to be forced at age 18 to register for the draft or be penalized.

First you have to have a working definition of privilege, because it's probably the single most cherry picked word in the English language at the moment.

a) pretty much every dangerous job is overwhelmingly male.

b) In crisis situations, men sacrifice themselves to a significantly greater degree than women do, ie. shielding the innocent, doing almost all the infrastructure work in natural disasters, policing all the bodies, etc.

c) Near identical DV and sexual assault rates, but virtually non-existent services and near zero believability.

d) Only sex with mandatory or drafted military service in most nations.

e) significantly lower graduation rate from post secondary education in most of the western world.

f) Cannot enjoy the same freedoms as women without scorn, ie. sex toys, staying at home with the kids, etc.

g) Less health funding to a great degree in most western nations.

h) Extreme bias against men in the CJS, at every stage.

I think the average man has the privelege of not recieving unwanted sexual attention and harassment very often, but mainly because they don't get much at all as they are expected to seek it actively instead.

Men are naturally stronger? We also (most likely) are raped somewhat less often outside of prison, though it's hard to get super exact stats. And we don't get periods and remain attractiveness longer as we age.

I can't think of anything else, honestly, And some of these are purely biological. As for how we are treated, my experience is something like this.

Depression means nobody wants anything to do with you. You are ignored and if you express your suffering expect to lose friends. You will find it hard to find work while you watch less competent women get hired by companies seeking female empowerment and diversity quotas. You will see "The future is female" and similar messaging everywhere while being told you neeed to "be taught not to rape" and to stop explaining things to women and sitting without your legs closed.

There's nothing wrong with privileges. As long as there's a reason for it. CEOs and politicians are powerful because they have a lot of responsibility. They couldn't do their jobs without it. The police are allowed to carry guns in public, to stop crime. Male athletes get paid more, because they generate more revenue.

Now go back 500 years:

The War Against Boys by Christina Hoff Sommers

I don’t agree with everything in these books, but they point to legit stats and make some very well argued points
