Idk why some of us are against this because it can also benefit men. I want to enlist but only women are allowed to keep their locs, so I had to cut mine off before they shipped me off to basic training. Now I've grown my hair out, but I'd have to go retry which means I'd have to cut them off again. Why can't men have locs but women can?

This feels just anachronistic. I've never seen a black woman shamed or anything for their hair in some kind of public sense, and at my company there are black women with all kinds of hairstyles. Although I understand women can pressure each other on hair and feel pressure due to historical beauty standards in the US. In fact, I've dated several black women, some long term, and the only thing people have done when mentioning their hair is giving compliments, although maybe that's just because I was there to be fair. Hair was definitely a major focus for them, so I could see being sensitive about its presentation and think that's fine, but to make legislation because of that is kind of ridiculous.
