I'm generally in the camp of thinking men get screwed when it comes to family and reproductive law but this is just a shitty situation... I can't feel good about this woman never being able to have a child when she has viable embryos just chilling.

Look this is not a win for anyone.

This woman wants to have her own biological children, faced with cancer she prepared and had some embryos frozen, they are fertilized by her then BFs sperm.

Now she can not the embryos.

What needs to happen, for justice, for fairness, is to allow the ownership of sperm and eggs to be transferred fully, not only access to it but legal responsibility for it's use. If she wants to carry the children let her, but they have been fertilized by HER sperm.

The trouble here is that if she did carry one or more of those children they would be the children (legally) of her ex, he would be enslaved for 18 or 21 years or more - 21 years is a long time and by 2041 the laws may have been changed so that a fathers period of indentured servitude will be extended to 30 years or more.

This is what happens when a woman harvests semen from oral sex or from a condom, the sperm is considered a gift, she can do with it what she wants, including impregnate herself, but the responsibility for that pregnancy is assigned to the producer of the sperm.

The law must be changed so that any person who OWNS sperm is responsible for any children they create using that sperm.

I disagree with the decision legally but it is a victory for men rights.
