Basically they were mad because a men were allowed to go to a feminist book group, even though it’s “feminist” and not “women only”

In other words she wanted to practice blatant discrimination on the basis of sex in the name of a cause she claims stands for equality of the sexes.
Which is a universal characteristic of feminists. But apparently the other feminists in her group are not dumb enough to think they can afford to not also indoctrinate men who are eager recruits.

No, you did not. Feminists explained that genders are mostly social constructs and then made it seem extremely advantageous to be male to women and extremely advantageous to be female to men and then they are surprised that unsatisfied people want to switch the set of social constructs applied to them.
Transgenderism is largely a side effect of basic feminism.
