This case is in India. I don't have stats for India, but in Pakistan and Bangladesh, 40% of acid attacks are against men. Most honor killings are against men (contrary to the false media narrative that only concerns itself with women). In Britain, 75% of acid attacks are against men.

The fact that you can get statistics on acid attacks scares me. This should not be a common thing.

Article summary (other than the title). She began harassing him with calls every day about wanting him to marry her, then when he refused to take her call one morning, she ambushed him outside a shop he visited with her acid attack.

She then claimed that he was going to release intimate pictures of her and him on social media if she didn’t marry him.

Friggin whackadoo. But I agree with the other comments, nothing really to do with men’s rights. She was arrested and (hopefully) will be convicted.

The sad thing is it’s relevant only becaause many feminists literally think women are not capable of doing something like this, and all domestic issues stem from men’s violence.

As a matter of fact some will still probably blame the guy for leading her on or some bullshit.

Wow! She must really love him in a way that women do...conditionally.

Better that than a false rape accusation.

At this point, I can’t tell what’s worst

Well for me i'll take the acid to the face before I take a false rape accusation. With acid to the face, your entire social group doesn't suddenly decide you are a monster over night.

Everyone else might look at you that way though. Both are shit, I think we'll all agree.

[–]ElBatDood 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

no i disagree acid is very healthy for your skin

[–]NerdGuyLol 10 points11 points12 points 6 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

I wouldn't go that far. I think the disfigurement would be somewhat life ruining

[–]ElBatDood 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Colleges wont kick you out for disfigurement, most jobs wont turn you away for disfigurement. End of story.

Depends what people you have around you

Like I said. It depends what people you have around you. Some people don't give a shit what you look like. Yes, it's a rarity, but saying "no most people arent like that" is not gonna change the fact that some people may stick around.

Sure buddy. That's what it is. Not my fault you hang around fake people.

[–]Tmomp -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Don't give her any ideas.

[–]Tmomp 5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Should we teach women not to throw acid in people's eyes after harassing them?

[–]duckfacereddit 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What kind of person carries acid all the time

[–]KingRobotPrince-8 points 6 years ago* [recovered] (6 children) | Copy Link

How is this a men's rights issue?

The girl has been arrested and this happens a lot more to women than to men in India.

[–]perplexedm 15 points16 points17 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

This is like saying false accusations doesn't matter because it happens rarely.

[–]KingRobotPrince5 points 6 years ago* [recovered] (4 children) | Copy Link

A woman committed a crime against a man. It's a crime that men also commit against women. The woman has been arrested for it.

Can you explain how it is a men's rights issue?

[–]DavidNordentoft 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I'm with you man (the downvotes are ridicolous. How can we have a serious discussions if this is how people are treated in this sub)!

I haven't even bothered reading the article, but I can't fathom how "throwing acid on a man" becomes a question of rights, it's a case of a woman being a psychopath and the victim being a man. The difference between this and false rape accussations would be that this is more easily proven, due to the victim being physically scared, and the forensic evidence of rape can be washed away, and whole cultural stigma of having an accussation thrown against can absolutely ruin your life in a multitude of ways.

[–]XavierMalory 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It’s not a men’s rights issue. Unless of course she winds up with a slap on the wrist while a man would receive a harsher punishment for the same crime. But we don’t know that in this instance.

[–]DavidNordentoft 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Like you said, we don't know that.

[–]slayer5934 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You could say a lot of men are constantly pressured to get married, but that goes for women in some places too so..

[–]ElBatDood -2 points-1 points0 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

But she was arrested so what's the point of this. He was treated fairly.
