In japan men are very in a sense stiff. Women would tend to make friends and have a close group in which they gossip while most married men work and all their acquaintances are mainly based around the work they do. Since Japan all the companies are sort of like a ladder and the higher you climb the more money you get, it’s hard to trust the people you meet because many times they want to take your position or you want to take theirs. Not a lot of strong bonding going on

Australia is one of the few countries where men believe they can rely on their friends more than women do. This is a result of the national tradition of 'mateship'. It's real and not just a cultural myth!

It's not too bad for women, either. For them Australia is one of the highest ranking countries.

Korea looks really weird. Do men there have no trust in friends at all?

Men don’t think they can rely on friends as much because men are taught to be self reliant.

What I find interesting is that there is no place on this chart where more than 10% of either group thinks they can rely on their friends. That's pretty dismal across the board.

Women's advice is often to say: Ask Mr (so and so) to help you. LOL.

It doesn't work that way for men.

But ironically I've had some women help me when men didn't.

As Mexican, maybe I could point to the understimating of male friendships by most Mexican men who prefer orbiting women than building friendships with men (perhaps because it could be seen as gay)
