Agreed. It doesn't make sense to compare MGM and FGM because there are so many different sub-types of each that cause different levels of damage.

And every mutilation is different - some boys die from circumcision, some have lifelong trauma, some have sexual dysfunction... some don't experience any of that. Same for girls.

So if a girl is cut and survives is her FGM still worse than a boy who dies being circumcised? It doesn't make sense. Genital mutilation always causes negative side effects, there is no OK amount of damage that can be done to a child's private parts...

True. But you might want to change "most benign" to "less harmful." Nothing benign about having your bits chopped off.

Yes! Mutilation is mutilation no matter a persons gender, we shouldn't be cutting up children at all!
