I'm not going to do the work of citing my sources at the moment, but I recently read that women in the average profession are now making as much if not more than men (except in CEO / upper-management roles). However, their expectations for status in partners has not changed, as most still expect the man to be the primary bread winner. This leaves less options, so American men go overseas where they are probably still the bread winner.

There are a number of podcasts of the men who are doing this speaking about exactly why they do it.

What it has really done is allow American women to go full mask off when it comes to their 'low boiling contempt', as the phrase was coined, for the average man about life, so I think it has been an excellent trend. The lack of honesty has long been an issue.

Seriously there's absolutely no shortage of videos, essays, think pieces, & books that lay out, in explicit detail, why. Biggest being women's impossibly high, often incredibly shallow, standards that 90% of men just can't meet & those that can have all the same if not more options. Why look for a relationship with someone that doesn't want you? So they go overseas to find more traditional women that actually LIKE men & want to be wives & mothers.

These aren't just wilting flowers either, many are educated with minds & successful lives of their own they just don't prioritize those things over their relationship. These women know you can be right/independent or you can be happy. Things most men already have a good handle on. Men occasionally prioritize career over family, in the name of building a stronger foundation for said family but we all know if you do it too often you'll lose that family completely, not a healthy way to live right.

It's ironic that feminists narratives have always been women can do everything men can do but better yet we're seeing the reality, that they're falling prey to all the same psychological trappings they've always complained about men falling into. I think younger generations are paying attention & realize this. That's why only 48% of millennial & gen z women identify as feminist & why 45% of those same women agree that feminism has become toxic, especially towards men.
