Taking into account that many famous people mentioned in this video (apart from the thumbnail) have a clear religious connection: islam; for them to deny marriage would be something contrary to their faith, which precisely encourages young people to marry (considering fornication a great sin) and have children.

To answer the question of why fewer and fewer men get married, one must ask what marriage itself is, what is its purpose and what are the religious-social factors that influence it or do not benefit it for men.

And I think this video is quite simplistic when it comes to understanding how postmodernism has terribly influenced this phenomenology.

In my 20s, I considered myself good looking, yet had to work hard to get a woman of equivalent looks plus the desired qualities. Women just have to “show up”. It is they who have all the choice, and we do not. Now that I’m middle aged, I’ve been with the same woman for decades but haven’t gotten married. Why not? Because what’s in it for me? She can decide to leave at anytime, and I would be left as a lonely, middle-aged, paunchy male with no options, but at least I’d have my wealth. If I were married and she wanted to divorce, I wouldn’t even have my money. As men, our biggest fears are being left alone, because by nature we’re not as sociable as women. We need to get over this fear in order to be truly independent.
