So, if the abstract is accurate this study contains several nuggets of good news.

1) apparently, men seem increasingly aware that male rape victims are hurt, and that they're not somehow to blame for magically causing the woman to rape them (rather than simply failing to fight back).

2) while on it's face, it is bad news that more women seem to disbelieve the pain of male victims of sexual assault and that they're somehow causing women to rape them... 35 years is way too short for a biological change. If it changed that much that fast, it's gotta be cultural, and, importantly, can be changed the other way.

TL;DR: ground won on one side, ground lost on the other, and the fact ground shifts at all means it's a battle that can be won.

Anyone having actually read further in can confirm or invalidate my idea that the abstract is accurate?

Look at the relationships sub. It’s hilariously frightening and frustrating. Basically if a guy has an opinion, a quirk, a voice of his own he’s made out to be a monstrous misogynist who the woman should run from at top speed. There’s a funny post on there right now from a girl who didn’t understand why her new boyfriend got annoyed that she wanted to cuddle her dog in bed after they went for a date. Nearly every comment is about how he’s controlling her or how he might be abusing her dog when she’s not around. NO! He just wants to get laid and the damn dog is in the bed. FML.

Judgments by male participants of male victims of assaults carried out by women changed notably over time. The 2019 male cohort was less likely to judge that the victim initiated or encouraged the incident (40% in 1984 compared with 15% in 2019) and derived pleasure from it (47.4% in 1984 compared with 5.8% in 2019).

That's fantastic. In 35 years the numbers changed dramatically and it looks like men are recognizing sexual assault committed by women is a serious problem.

In contrast, the 2019 female cohort was more likely to attribute victim encouragement (26.9% compared with 4.3% in 1984) and pleasure to the male victim (25% in 2019 compared with 5% in 1984).

So men have been protecting and providing since the beginning of evolution and in present day women and society thanks them by villainizing them and offering them little to no empathy? OUTRAGE!

Women must be unconditionally empathic towards their men and diplomatically empathic towards other men.

Most men are good people. But obviously this is the planet of the unsung heroes because men are the most villainized group in the world, which I once again will never tolerate.

If you've been assaulted whether by woman or man, your experience is valid and matters and you deserve to have the most possibly suitable therapy provided.

Men are also amazing relationship material, unlike most females. I am ashamed that most women don't have your characters, that are based.
