Here's an article with a pretty powerful exercise: https://manifestationpathways.com/how-to-brainwash-yourself/

  1. Identify a problem you're having

  2. What is the story you tell yourself and others about this?

  3. Consider that story is inaccurate, if so how, and what could your story be instead?

  4. Rewrite your story by thinking about the values you hold and kind of person you wanna be to create a better life for yourself

  5. Find supporting examples and tie those actions you took to your values and who you wanna be

Example I just did:

  1. I don't feel I work well alone

  2. I need a partner or a body double. Someone to keep me on track and accountable.

  3. Well, except for all the work I've done on my own and still gotten degrees, promotions, recognition, and responsibilities.

  4. So actually I'm someone who can usually deliver even without proper training or equipment. I will Google ways to solve problems, brainstorm or experiment on my own, listen to people who have been in similar situations, etc

4b. I'm someone who cares how the work gets done and whether it had a real affect on the clients quality of life or accomplished something necessary at least. I dig in because I want recognition and respect, but because I also deserve to recognize and respect myself for those qualities

4c. Success helps, but so does taking real chances and trying things to establish what works and doesn't and how or whether to continue trying to do that project. Either way I should recognize my efforts and what I did glean from failure

  1. Many policies at my last place of work were accepted, successful, and sometimes copied by other places. That says I can do well, learn from failure, and replicate success outside my sphere of control. Wow!

I hope someone else finds value in this. Give it a shot and if you get into a hopeless negative spiral, maybe throw your problem on the board and we can make suggestions, it's proven to be easier to see solutions for others before yourself.
