Hey All, A bit of background first. As the title says I am a Veteran... retired 9 years ago. Married 32 years. Started renovating family land and house about 5 years ago with the intent of making the place my retirement oasis. Wife was fully aware. Fast forward to now. I'm now at the property full time. Trying to get the place finished and get back to my woodworking and possibly start a side hustle. Have been through years of infidelity accusations while having my own doubts of her fidelity over the years.... especially when I was downrange. Anyhoo, I decided last January to move myself and my shop to TN from NC. I wrote out my intentions and gave her and my son a copy. It was just explaining what I was going to be doing and that I wanted the two of them to come here and that I would continue to pay the current mortgage and related insurances until they came here or until one of us dies(just as a precaution from my point of view). I'm know that as a vet she gets half of my monthly pension off the top. However, I have told her that that money would not pay the mortgage and insurances. I have offered her a place to come to and live. I have also told her that as of 1 July she will have to pay the utilities in NC because I won't be paying for the utilities at both places especially since I don't live there. There's so much more I could put here about what I have dealt with over the years but suffice it to say that I got fed up with everything and being told I'm the one who has the attitude, the hatefulness, the one that has a problem with everything and everyone. I'm just trying to get some advice. The only TN lawyer to return my call said that it would be best if I settled the divorce out of court and that if she lawyered up it would be "expensive" for me.
