The only ways that they "care" are:

at work, your boss needs you to make money for him
the government needs your taxes; everyone else needs you to pay taxes to spread out the costs over more people
you need to consume, buy things, so that companies have someone to sell their stuff to, so that they can make money

other than that, yes, no one cares if you vanish. As long as you're doing those things others don't mind if you aren't around. Cooped up in your little box of an apartment? Good enough for me! In fact, it's almost better for them, because then they don't have to worry about you getting in their way. They only care that you're around to the extent that you're inconvenient and in the way, and in that case they will try to hurt you to make you get out of their way.

some celebs have talked about this: that they have no true friends and have extreme loneliness, and that nobody would truly care if they died.

that's where we ALL are. even some people with a spouse and children, they don't believe anyone would really care if they vanished.

we attempt to make a connection and sometimes we fail, and that's ok. they are rare for everyone, including celebrities. maybe even harder for celebrities. we keep trying and find meaning in the struggle.
