All this largely stems from men doing pickup in the 90's and figuring how to teach other men how to do effective pickup well. David DeAngelo. Mystery. Tyler Durden. Neil Strauss. All wrote books, made videos, interviewed PUAs, put on seminars, etc and sold the material to young men looking to get better with women.

It's origins lie in the development of a boy to a man.

As a boy the world is usually as the mother see's it. Naive. That is because women do not tell the truth, in reality, they know how the world works.

In time the boy encounters an experience, an older man, a crisis, a defeat. This experience shatters his views. He has an encounter with Morpheus.

At that cross roads, he can do two things. Swallow another blue pill, go to sleep and hug mama. Or he can take the red pill.

The red pill takes many forms. You can give these new viewpoints names like Materialism, Scientism, Machiavellism. It's also possible to go from Materialism as your naive view, and have a spiritual awakening.

The idea is now you have a more accurate view of the world. This is a kind of power, to be used for good or for evil. It's not about debating with others.

You see more and more accurately from moving from one view to another. If you have the nerve. If not you post stupid questions.
