-How do they calculate date of separation? Day you file, day they are served, agreed upon date? -how long is the waiting period? 60 days, 6 months, etc -attorney fees plus court fees? -separate property? What counts? What doesn’t? -any impact of infidelity? If that occurred/your state factors that in? (Neither applied in my case) -do they offer mediation services to bring both parties together?

Money.. I am thinking ahead.. General Question on timing of major purchases, taking on debt, selling a car, etc.

For example if I sell my car one year ahead of filing for divorce who cares. If I sell my car 1 hour before I file for a divorce sounds like a big no no.

When should I sell my car to not make it an issue? Looking for a range.. how close to a divorce filing can I sell my car?

Same goes for say.. buying a new Car. (Buy one a year before no big deal, buy one on day of .. big deal..)

Who is staying in the house? State laws are different. Danger and family court issues aside, your first priority is to defend your right to a home.

I plan on spending my “separation” in my basement. Once you leave the “marital home” you may be giving up a lot of power. Lawyer up!
