The Iranian men who are chanting “Zan, Zendegi, Azadi” know that the struggle for women’s rights is also the struggle for their own freedom – that the oppression of women is merely the most visible manifestation of a larger system of state terror. Moreover, the events in Iran are something that still awaits us in the developed Western world, where the trends toward political violence, religious fundamentalism, and the oppression of women are accelerating.

As someone woefully under-knowledgeable to authoritatively speak on the topic, I've noticed a lack of anti-maleness in the Iranian protests too and seen other articles about the coalition between men and women in these protest. Like college men performing a ~~walk out~~ sit-in. Or defying segregation

I mean there's alot of merit in his observation.

I have had self named "equity feminists" try to explain to me how woman shouldn't be held accountable to the same level as men for the same crime. Essentially arguing for a almost caste system within British law .

I found such views genuinely ludicrous until I started to worry that such times may come to pass.

I am for gender equality in which we are all treated the same regardless of our sex.

There is a surprisingly large undercurrent of hatred aimed at certain groups I have often found within my left leaning aquaintences that would worry me massively if a party populated by such individuals got into power . This would drive me more right leaning politically if I felt this hatred existed less there.
