Anyone have any unusual parenting time arrangements to maximize the time you get to see your kids. I am suing for full custody but I think it's...

Oh yeah, 1st mediation was absolute Trench warfare.

Once we got past all the shit she was trying to sling at me(that was about an hour or two) the rest of the eight hours was just spent on hashing out a schedule we could both live with until round 2, she did her absolute damndest for me not to get overnights etc…but I’ve got it in writing now, and I’ve got my overnights.

Current schedule I’ve got him several days a week and one over night and ever other weekend overnight.

One day during the week is a ‘short’ day from 3-6:30. Then I drop him back at her place.

So..what did I do?

I’ve organised a giant motherfucking weekly play date with all his friends at kindy and other parents from another playgroup I take him to.

So now every week we’ve got anywhere between 10-20 parents kids getting together, they see I’m not Satan and actually want to schedule more things with me directly now as well. It’ll be like this for the rest of the year until he goes to 1st grade, a lot of the kids he’s playing with now will be going to the same school.

Outside of that just make the most of the time, don’t sit at home unless the weather is bad. Get out and do something, anything.

If they’re older find something they’re interested in and get involved; even if you don’t particularly care for it you’re able to spend time with them and they enjoy it.

Or better yet find a new hobby they’d be willing to try and you can experience it together.

Just make the most of the time you have.

It’s different everywhere, I’m in Australia.

Unless there’s actually a charge of DV or something of the like in place the 1st step is mediation, which happens relatively quickly, if that doesn’t result in a parental agreement we would to then go before a judge.

We had a binding financial agreement that already served as a property settlement so all there was to work out was the parental agreement. I was the stay at home parent as I’m self employed and she left the house each day to go to work. I was in a unique situation as all my assets/income were also in another country that family court doesn’t have jurisdiction over. She had no case, and she knew it so she tried to throw as much dirt on me as she could, claimed abuse, claimed addition etc…and I came to mediation with actual evidence to contradict what she was alleging. I had dr’s notes from family Dr, certification for first aid(she claimed I wasn’t capable of handling mediation emergency with son etc..) she thought she could just make shit up and be believed, whereas I had a mountain of evidence to prove that I’m a competent and capable father.

She was notified by mediator in early Dec, immediately retained lawyer and we had mediation the following Feb. I wanted it sooner but she cited work reasons. We had parental agreement in place the week after mediation.

I had already retained lawyer and was told that ‘parental alienation’ is a big no no and unless there was actual charges/TRO in place there was no grounds for her not to let me see my son if the request was in writing and it was reasonable.

She had already made the threat of false dv charges so I was already out of the house. Lawyer told me to have recorder going everytime I interacted with her so as to have some evidence that if she made a claim I could prove otherwise.
