Treat every experience as a learning opportunity. If you learn something from your fuck up then you can grow from it. If you grow and mature from the experience then it wasn't completely negative.

Acknowledging to yourself THAT you did a wrong is a good thing, but it's not enough. You must understand WHY you did the wrong. Only then can you correct. You should aspire to be a better person, not merely a better-behaved person.

Advice would be very different if, for example, you had consensual sex with their adult sister vs you bludgeoned their puppies to death on their front lawn using their mother's prosthetic leg and then performed satanic rituals with the puppy corpses.
