In the past it was expected and actively encouraged for a man to learn to become a charming flirt, to confidently express his interest, in short bloom romantically even if he is not the most physically attractive. Although sexuality at a very young age was shamed, at late adolescence to young adulthood men are encouraged to modulate it and transform it into a capacity for mature romantic and sexual affection.

However in the contemporary society, it has become more of a meat market. There is no longer this shame/guilt for sexuality since puberty if you're Chad, the top tier of physically attractive hunk style men who are usually early bloomers. However for the rest of men, Chad is held to be the standard for having the green light to be sexually assertive and if you aren't a Chad lookalike, you are not encouraged to bloom by flirting and becoming charming anyways, you are expected to not even approach women and actively infatilize yourself.

Most men have a natural instinct to become assertive and flirtatious when they become fully physically mature, but society tells them you're not a 6'2 hunk, you shouldn't follow your instincts to ask women on dates.. you should bottle up your feelings. And then they soak up this message and become a shutup playing video games with male friends.. and then they get told 'get some social skills don't be so pathetic'. But that's what they were told to become, asexual harmless boys right? No wonder why men become schizo when living in our society.
