I've read several articles over the years about the draconian spanish DV legislation and related unfairness of the court system.

Truely inspiring and very moving. It gives me hope that more and more people are starting to understand what's going on and start to act on basis of that understanding.

PS: I've also bookmarked the website of the organisation and added it to my list, so I can refer people from Spain if they ask for help here.

It's called the Organic law 2004. It created a separate legal system for men and women per domestic violence, where men have inherently fewer rights. And yes, incentivizes false accusations.

We have this law informally known as viogen that basically defines gender violence as any act of violence inflicted upon a woman by a man "just because she's a woman". This means that all acts of violence against women are automatically assumed to be driven by misogyny (ignoring the real cause, whatsoever it may be). Also, domestic violence between lesbians or by women against men is seen as less important (because reasons). In a country where all citizens are suppossedly equal under the law, women are given a preferential treatment and men don't receive due process. The law is clearly anticonstitutional but it still got passed and is here to stay...

Their narrative makes zero sense. If I found my wife cheating on me and I were to hit her in a bout of jealousy, that'd somehow constitute a sexist crime. If she start throwing things at me and I push her away from me in self-defence? You guessed it! Sexism. If I send a call her a c*nt on WhatsApp? Yeah, no, that's a serious crime here m8. But if a woman did any of these things, it'd be A-okay!
