Glad to see it challenged. The law should be blind to sex, race and other demographics.

Saying a homicide is worse when a female is murdered (femicide) is essentially saying women’s lives matter more than men’s. I think It’s also not just about femicide making it a worse crime, but that the outlook probably biases investigations and court proceedings.

I hope this abomination of a law gets struck down. I am not optimistic, but most constitutions do not allow discrimination based on sex. This is a clear case of discrimination.

It is interesting to note that the man's main lawyer - Jose Herrera - was a member of parliament who pushed for lowering the age of consent from 18 to 16 as many young men were being sent to prison for simply having a girlfriend who was one or two years younger than themselves. The law was in fact changed.

This lawyer's sister is a Judge and she is known for her fairness and for not discriminating against men. Her name is Consuelo Scerri Herrera. Unfortunately, due to her open minded and fair approach to sentencing she has been under attack by feminists.

Interesting killing a girl cutting her genitals due to religious practice is aggravated murder and when boys face the same fate it is just harmless tradition.
