I’ve been involved in family court for the past five years. At the last court date the lawyers met briefly independently to discuss the issues. After their meeting my lawyer told me my ex’s lawyer had come to the conclusion that my ex’s sole focus was money and that he no longer believed the allegations of domestic violence. Essentially, my ex’s lawyer stated he believed my ex has been lying to gain the upper hand financially. He went on to say that my ex believes my parents have money and that my ex feels she is entitled to a beyond guideline amount of child support because she thinks my parents will pay it as I don’t have the finances to pay her what she wants. Of note we have shared parenting but I make more money so I’m paying child support.
I’ve fully expended my available finances on an incompetent lawyer, I have no money left and have fired the lawyer. I am self representing myself at the next court date. My question is, how do I use the information my ex’s lawyer divulged. Can I outline the details of the communication between the lawyers that clearly demonstrates my ex has presented false information to gain the upper hand? I understand it was a conversation that I was not a part of but it is incredibly telling after five years of litigation. I have no more money for a lawyer, and to be frank, I don’t trust them. Interested to hear thoughts on this situation.
