So this I’m[19m] going to start logging my journey to getting better with this whole getting something started thing. Consider this a baseline post.

This week I’m planning on going to the late night cafe on Friday night (it’s a cool place that I already know the vibe of). I’m planning on just striking up some conversations and see if anyone is really feeling it. Maybe I’ll catch a sign, maybe I won’t. But that’s what this whole journey is about, isn’t it?

Regardless I like to think my problem at current isn’t starting a conversation but rather being able to gauge whether the woman I am talking to is actually interested in me.

That leads me to my main question of the week or so, what would be some common signs and ways to try and see them in the real world? I think if I can start to learn to recognize some of the signs I will be able to start figuring out how to move towards getting some dates.

Hey man,

Appreciate the effort to better yourself, that’s one of the most noble things a person can do in their life.

Anyway in terms of “reading signals” and “signs”, there really isn’t any conventional rules you can follow that apply to every single situation. Communication is nuanced and varies from person to person, the assumptions they make about communication and so on. I have met people who give off rejection vibes but we’re interested still, yeah…

Honestly just keep in mind of simple rules I usually follow. Don’t assume what you talk like to your guy friends is how you talk to women, it’s slightly different. There are social norms and conditions that you have to follow along to not be creepy. Like don’t stare at a woman all night, keep going up to a woman who has rejected you multiple times, and don’t talk about certain topics immediately like sex, politics and etc.

If you follow these simple rules, most of your interactions will range from ok to great, but won’t be disastrous.

To get to the signals bit, the only hardline evidence that comes close to common general rules that apply to everyone is really body language and conversational engagement. If someone appears distant from you and doesn’t have an open body appearance, they aren’t interested or comfortable talking to you. The final signal is that if you have to keep pushing on to keep the conversation, they aren’t interested in talking with you.

If a person appears to have open body language and is keeping up with the conversation, it doesn’t actually guarantee that they like you. At this point you will eventually get a verbal confirmation (sometimes direct it indirect) that they may want or not want to pursue anything with you.

If you were trying to read signals to avoid rejection, well rejection is part of the game, and you’ll have to become resilient to it, there is no escaping it. But the more you practice, the stronger and wiser you become. Get out there and learn!

You are actually right, it is different for every girl.

Although you came to the right conclusion, also just another tip, don’t take everything that a girl says literally. Their feedback is always nuanced and doesn’t actually represent what the key issue was.

When someone says you go off too strong, all it means is that the girl wasn’t as interested in you as you were with them. They just went on a date with you to sus things out and they were in the “maybe” camp, where you went on a date with them because you were actually interested. But it’s hard to read this, and it isn’t really your fault. In fact some people reciprocate the exact energy but then flip on it for no reason, so don’t listen to what girls have to say literally, especially when rejecting you.

Don’t stress about this situation too much though, my first few escapades were really bad where I miscalculated a bunch of shit and could’ve won the bag but didn’t lmao. It’s all good, don’t take this too seriously.
