I often see advice from people here encouraging others to 'demote' an LTR in response to poor behaviour. In HumanSockPuppets Bitch Management guide he advises to permanently demote a woman a certain number of levels depending on the severity of the offence.

Personally I have always found this advice rather dubious. If a man has entered into an LTR, in the vast majority of cases he is emotionally invested in that women. If she was willing to disrespect him as an LTR surely she will be just as willing to disrespect him after the humiliation of being demoted. I've always felt that the most practical, drama free way to 'demote' a woman is to permanently cut off contact and find new material. This is the only way to guarantee she is unable to use the inevitable attachment you've built for her against you.

Anyway, I'm not here to question the method but simply to gain an understanding of how it is to be effected.

So LTR disrespects you and you've decided to demote her....

Do you tell her she's being demoted? If so...how do you explain to her "listen you've disrespected me so I am no longer going to invest time and effort into you but I will still be using you for sex. I will also be using other women for sex but you are not allowed to seek other men for sex" How does she explain this development to her friends without damaging her reputation?

If you don't tell her and she becomes aware you are seeking/banging other chicks how do you meet accusations of infidelity in what, according to the latest discussion on the subject, she understood to be a monogamous relationship?
