22M here, recently got out of a long term relationship and am dating again for the first time in forever. Prior to my last relationship I had never really done “adult” dating, just like messaged girls on dating apps and went over to hook up, since it was college. Now I am trying to work on my social skills, and enjoy life single for a while before I jump back into any relationships. I have been using tinder and bumble, and so far have gone on 4 dates(different people), all out to get dinner or drinks. 3 of them ended with the women coming back to my place, and one ended up at theirs.

I would consider myself a pretty conscientious person, so I am always very concerned about making other people uncomfortable. I also haven’t had to deal with making a move not knowing that the other person would welcome it since I had been in a relationship for so long. On two of the dates, when we were alone in bed, I very slowly made advances with my hand, as naturally as I could, from just around the shoulder to to her waist, to more her butt, etc, trying to gauge their body language while we watched TV. I think in both cases I probably took longer than they might have wanted, but either way once I was pretty sure they were interested I went for the kiss and it was well received and we ended up having sex. Afterwards things were great, they want to go out again, so I know I didn’t misread anything there.

My main question is with the other two dates. The first one, while we were watching a movie, I went through the same sort of physical escalation and didn’t receive and signs of discomfort, and our rapport was very good/flirty. However, since the movie was going on and she hadn’t seen it, I wasn’t sure if I should make a move during the movie, so I was thinking I’d wait until afterwards. After the movie, it was kind of late and she had work early so she said she should go, which of course I said no problem, and we plan to go out again. Do you think that she may have expected me to make a move?

The second date was similar, we got drinks and food, and then I offered, if she didn’t have to get home, to come to my place. She happily accepted, and our rapport was good too. She gets up very early(5) in the mornings for work, so when we got back to my room, I put on a show but she did say she can’t stay too long since it’s was already 830. Because of this,(and my normal apprehensiveness) I assumed I should not make a move. However, she stayed a lot longer than I expected, about an hour, and body language was good as we watched on the bed together and I again tested physical boundaries gradually. At the end, I things still went well and we plan to go out again, but I wonder if I may be offending or giving the wrong impression by not making a move if they expect it. I would especially appreciate input from any women, but all advice is appreciated.

In case it matters, the ages of the women on the dates I didn’t make a move were 22 and 21
