My friend said we say "yes" all the time because we care too much about what other people are thinking. It's much easier to comply and say yes, so we don't come off as harsh, basically being a nice guy. But it won't get you far in life.

I'm not sure what would be better. Say "no" or "I don't know", but risk the conversation dying, or "yes" to keep the flow going?
