Majority of the time (as a female) we give advice because we think it will improve their looks.

Giving advice doesn’t mean we find the person attractive/ unattractive. It just means that we can visualize the person pulling off a look

Personally, I wouldn't give a guy friend advice if I pitied him enough to think he was physically hopeless. If I do give a guy advice its because I like them enough at least as a friend and think maybe they haven't considered a different look like "Hey with your slick back hair I think you would look really cool with a leather jacket. The look would really suit you." or "Hey I think your plain shorts looks like underwear. I think you should try cargo pants or tech wear or something. I think it would suit you."
