What do ppl mean when they say tone it back?

Ay I'm black, I've never had to tone it down with women. But here's the thing.

I've been told I'm not "traditionally/stereotypically" black. I've been told by a black chick, you're one of those NTB(Non threatening black guys) never even heard of that term before her. Don't call all women I meet, baby, shawty, baby girls. Not saying all black people do, trynna give you an idea based on some bullshit sterotypes.

I'm 6'3, 230, athletic, I work out and it shows, but my favorite fit to wear is a like a salmon pink button up that hugs my arms and chest with the sleeves rolled up, ripped black jeans, pink Nikes, and maybe a cardigan if it's cold. Oh and I got a blond bleached curly hair that's cut into pretty much a frohawk, like Odell Beckham jr

And for some fucking reason I get told I'm different than other black guys, or not like the others? WTF is that lmfao.

What I'm saying is, black guys don't have to tone it down, it's just you're black so you're expected to have some threatening ass aura about you which is pretty fucking stupid, and if you don't you're not seen as 'black'.

My advice, be yourself, and if you're black, consider peoples first impressions of you are gonna be taken slightly more aggressive than any other race. I'm usually super nice and polite cause that's just me, a bit softspoken at times, goofy and nerdy. so I guess I'm naturally "toned down", but im not trying to be. I'm just being me.

I would say no matter your race, a more reserved approach is always better. More mysterious.
