I don’t think it’s possible for this not to be awkward. You have the right to set what ever boundary you want. If he doesn’t like it, know that It is okay to be the bad guy in someone else’s story.

But you don’t have to be dramatic about it. You can politely say, ‘thank you for the offer but I am not interested in a sexual relationship with you, and I don’t see that changing. I’d love to continue our friendship but I understand if you want to take some time or space.
