Hi! I have never posted here before, but I have a tough situation to deal with that I need advice with. Sorry for my English, I’m European.
I used to watch and imitate the PUA guys a couple years back. I’ve spent a lot of time building my confidence and people-skills. I no longer care to cold approach, I know how to talk well and have no trouble being attractive to women in social settings if I want to. I even dare say I’m pretty damn good at it. A couple years back when I just wanted to score or atleast feel touch and make out in a club it was good enough. But now that I’d actually like to be with someone I authentically want to be with I’m in a bit of a pickle - let me explain.
Over time I learned that you attract what you project. And I want to project what’s actually real about me and be in a relationship I enjoy beyond the sex aspect. I even got with a girl who I used to be very good friends with since I thought that’s the most rational thing to do and she came to me without me looking for her first, but over time I realised I just liked having sex with her and our goals and ambitions were just too different to stay together - I felt like I would have to throw my life away if I stayed.
This brings me to the topic in question. I decided to just focus on what makes me happy. Most of the people who are or were in my life for any significant amount of time are/were there by absolute chance. They met me, then decided to stay in touch on their own, friend or intimate. Trouble is even though I can attract women who I like, they tend to ghost or pull away after a couple weeks while it’s the girls I don’t pay any mind to who choose to pursue me. I’d understand it if I were being inauthentic when first meeting the girls I like, but I’m really just being me.
I’m beginning to think no matter how you feel and what you do you can’t actually “choose” or pull a woman, she’s the one who chooses you. Even if you make an amazing first impression, it doesn’t matter if you are in for the long game. Either I’m doing something wrong, or maybe you need to act totally disinterested to not get ghosted, but I’m more and more convinced seduction is a cope and the reality of the situation is you just have to buckle down, ignore women and do your thing because you have no control over this aspect of your life at all - which doesn’t seem particularly satisfying or healthy.
