How can I be less intimidating?

This is sadly something tall men have to deal with. Some people find people much bigger than them scary and that's unavoidable. However, you can be mindful of how you are perceived. A tall guy with a bad attitude is gonna do worse on average than a tall guy with a warm, approachable personality.

Consider is your facial expression. Resting Bastard Face is a real thing and it's hard to understand where the line is between looking mysteriously pensive or angrily scowling. Also, avoid doing the bug-eyed "oh shit!" expression l see so many people do when they consciously avoid frowning at people. Be reasonably animated. Genuine smiles are great, but try smiling in a mirror to see how you come across.

Something I learned early on was that I shouldn't approach people from behind. Big guys sneaking up on small women tend to scare the shit out of them. Approach from the front and politely announce yourself before you're in kicking distance.

I tend not to shout, as much swear, or use violent language anymore. If a short guy talks about kicking his boss in, it's weird. If a big guy does it, it's threatening. Even if its a joke.

Another thing, which I've always attributed to a culture here in the UK, is that I have much more success using apologetic language. But I assume that my height and build also play a factor in this. "Hi, sorry to bother you. I know this is strange, but..." and similar phrases wouldn't be appreciated by traditional PUA. However, this seems to work much better.

Style is another thing to consider. If you're a lanky goth guy with cock rings on your jacket, you will be polarising. If you're a huge body builder, you may come across as intimidating to small women. I'm not saying don't, as polarising is good. I'm just pointing out that it will have an effect and it won't always be positive.

Finally, avoid towering over people. It's easily done by accident, but I've been told that it's quite intimidating.
