Well for clothing: "Which one do you think looks better?" In your head you know exactly what you want to wear/buy, but just use it as a convo starter and see where it takes you.

You could also do something like grab two sweat shirts and say “hypothetically if we were dating, which sweat shirt would you eventually try to wear and take from me?” And have some fun going off of that then switch the subject

You could come to her and say you think she's cute or you could ask clothes related questions.
