It sounded like a normal friendly conversation. Nothing wrong with that but it sounds like you were expecting more to come out of it. The thing is, you didn’t introduce yourself, made your intentions clear etc. How do you expect the girl to remember you than, especially as a romantic option? Next time, try making yourself more clear, really get your intentions across, introduce yourself, joke around a bit and then don’t be afraid to go for the number instead of ig.

you made direct small talk without creating any comfort. you essentially just wasted her time talking about classes and after the long silence (which should’ve told you to just stop) and you were about to leave, you out of nowhere asked for her contact info. you essentially telegraphed to her that you didn’t care who she was or that’s you had any bond, and all you wanted was a way into her personal life. and you wonder why she doesn’t even look at you while passing her
