I believe authenticity helps with women. Hoeever, one area faking it can help is in the confidence department. Women are generally very attracted to confident men, so if you can raise her perception of your confidence level, even if deep down you are very insecure, you'll have better chances. In general, I've found that high confidence is the single most important factor in dating for men. More than money, looks, and fame

Incongruent? That's a curious notion. Incongruent in relation to what precisely? To one's old unpolished unenlightened self? As long as you're being thoughtful about your interactions I don't see why it's an issue to worry about. It definitely helps to push yourself to light up a few thousand watts. Over time you build the best self that you're aiming towards. It's okay to polish your self , and find your best self. It pays to think about what you want and who you want to be. Build a new self image , adopt it and make it yours and then each interaction builds congruence towards your new best self self image.

This is an old school reference. Incongruence was a term used to describe someone who is being fake, relative to who they are. Someone who is being incongruent with who they seem to be.
Like if someone was puffing themself up to seem confident but then they're doing or saying things that demonstrate a lack of respect that any confident person would actually have.
Or someone who is spouting off canned lines to try and appear as someone they aren't but it is clear to others around them.
This is a very real problem.
