I'm sure you've heard everybody say this at some point: "Looks don't matter, only game matters". There are many people who agree with that, and there are plenty of people who say it's complete bullshit.

What many people will think when they read that quote is "I can be fat, I can wear old stained sweatpants, I can have a scraggly neckbeard, and I can still meet and attract high quality women". And in all honesty, that may be true. There are still some women who will hook up with them if they are confident and have good game. But they will be shut out by many many women who would be much more open if they took care of themselves.

But if you are not at an advanced level, where you can say pretty much anything and look almost any way and get good responses, then this attitude will be detrimental.

So what does it really mean? It means "Don't let your confidence and opinion of yourself solely be based on your appearance".

There are guys who feel like shit if they missed a cut day and their abs don't pop as much as they usually do. There are guys, who if are out and not dressed to the nines but instead in a t-shirt and jeans, think they absolutely could not pick up women. There are guys with great hair who, if they went bald, would assume they would never be able to get laid again.

From what I've seen, most of the ways men are considered attractive on a purely physical basis is based mostly on things that can be changed (fitness level, grooming, dress, etc). Of course there is plenty of room for preference, and short men and non-white men generally do have it harder, but in it is much more forgiving than the somewhat unrealistic expectations men hold for women. That's what the line means, it means do your best, and live with what you can't change and don't get too caught up in.

All you really have to do is:

  • Lift weights.

  • Don't be fat.

  • Work on your posture.

  • Dress/groom intentionally.

  • Don't smell like shit.

This is basically it. You don't have to take any of these to any extreme to get good with women, you only have to do it if you really enjoy taking any of these to their fullest. After that, it's all up to personal preference and demographics. The rest is game.
