For me, it's campus.

Most of the numbers I've gotten that have turned into actual dates rather than flakes have been from campus.

I feel like it's because that location automatically puts the woman at ease, because she knows you have at least one thing in common (being a student). It also cuts down ambiguity about age (not as large a chance of accidentally hitting on a mature-looking high-schooler and looking like a creep, or hitting on some older, mature woman who already has her life together and is married and isn't interested in fucking around with some debt-saddled student who still lives with his mom).

Also with campus, I can't help but feel that race is playing a factor here. I'm black. I feel like stereotypes about black people are often working against me, and I feel like I have to try hard to be disarming because many people will be implicitly on guard when approached by a black man. On campus, there's probably some measure of "respectability politics" at play. "Oh, he's in higher education; he's one of the good black guys, and not some drug dealer hollering at me."

Other than that, most of my numbers I've gotten that have been fruitful have been from public transit, like on the train or bus stop or something. But this is a distant second.

I've had no success at concerts/shows, even though you think you would, seeing as they are social gatherings. Haven't had much success at parties, either, but I don't have as large a sample size for this one, because so many of the parties I go to have very few single women (every girl in my social circle also has a boyfriend in my social circle, I guess?)

I don't like clubbing, so I haven't tried there. It's just not my scene.
