Oneitis aside, let us look at your text "Are you free this friday?".

This is a weak text for a few reasons;

1) Friday/Saturday are going out nights, not date nights

2) Your question is vague. It does not have a call to action

3) You don't have enough social equity to hang out with her on Friday night yet

4) You texted her before Friday (I'm guessing) and she might not have her calendar finalized at that point. You aren't close enough with her for her to make plans in the future, it seems. Same day texts might be better.

Don't be too worried if she doesn't text you back. Give her a week and then next time you text her, perhaps on a Sunday - Thursday, ask "Hey, I'm bored. Want to come with me to grab a BLANK?" What you specifically propose is irrelevant, just make sure you are asking "Do you want to do something with me right now" and not "Do you want to do something with me sometime..." Alternatively, you can take the group approach and ask "My friends and me are going to do BLANK, wanna come with?" or even better "My friends and I are out at BLANK, why don't you come join us?" Point isn't necessarily that she will drop what she is doing, but more that you are okay with hanging out with her in a group and not necessarily going for that one-on-one time.
