Have you ever worried that you're more flair than substance? I can understand being this way when you're a kid or in high school. Nobody really knows who they are at that point, and they haven't really developed their interests and hobbies so much. But as an adult, say for those who have at least reached their mid 20s, do you ever worry that you might be an empty person? I have degrees, but they are in subject areas that I don't find very interesting. A few days ago I approached a girl who, on the surface at least, seemed really cool. She had a degree in psychology and was reading a book on the psychology of persuasion. She also told me about an author that I should look into. I have an interest in these subjects (psychology), but I have a very limited knowledge of it. This of course sets the stage for disaster, I've suddenly found someone to look up to, someone to aspire to be. I don't think that's healthy, but no matter how much flair I might add to the conversation, there's a part of me that is dissatisfied with myself.
