I'm going to just highlight the things that stood out to me.

  • Accross all cultures, Buss found, men wer more likely than women to value youth and physical attractiveness in a potential mate. In contrast, women were more likely than men to value financial security, access to material resources, hig status and education, and good financial prospects. Buss, an evolutionary psychologist, interprets thse gender differences as reflecting the different "mating strategies" of men and women.

  • According to Kasser and Sharma, "When a female is provided with opportunities to fend for herself, she can become less concerned with finding a mate who will provide resources for her, but when she has few opportunities to educate herself to control her own fertility she will be more concerned with finding a mat who can provide her with the resources needed to support her and her children"

So I know that second one may seem controversial but a good debate is always good food for the mind. Anyone have any thoughts on these or any parts of this article in my textbook?
