If Codependency and Neediness is so toxic and an inaccurate representation of real love why is it so heavily portrayed in mainstream media, movies and songs?

Monogamy (rigidly enforced neediness) is a societal norm that has a lot to do with official laws of inheritance, census and taxation, conscription, religious control, and so on. Mainstream culture tends to reflect what is officially approved and encouraged. Dissenting culture like rap music and porn is denigrated in the mainstream because it threatens the orthodox status quo.

BUT there is still some inner appeal to neediness. Needy monogamy means, you can let yourself go, get fat, stop being witty and charming, stop dressing well, and "I'll always love you." Game is hard and needs constant work and improvement but needy monogamy is like an endless vacation.
