This will be a short field report because I'm drunk and tired. EDIT: Ok so it's not short. TL;DR went solo for the first time, danced, maintained frame, threw away a great chance at the end of the night.

Tonight was one of those nights when I had a few different options planned and everybody (about half a dozen individuals) miraculously flaked out on me. This is not totally unexpected at this time of year, as everyone has a lot of work and a lot of parties to go to.

Anyway, I ended up deciding to go out dancing by myself at a club downtown. I had met a couple of people who organized the night in previous months, but didn't really know anyone. Frame control, in this situation, is absolutely critical. There were tons of cute girls. I basically had a drink and went into the middle of the dance floor and danced like I was there on a mission to listen to music and dance (this is really why I wanted to go out, but I can't deny the allure of the opposite sex).

Early in the evening there were two girls clearly interested in me (IOIs on the dance floor). I ended up chatting one of them up, getting along well. I went for a piss and a smoke and a drink and by the time I got back she was gone. These things happen. She was really interested and I guess HB7 and I was a bit pissed at myself for letting the chance slip through my fingers.

I continued to dance throughout the night, (basically from 1AM to 4AM, which is closing time). By focusing on having a good time and dancing by myself and saying hi hello how's it going to the people around me, I actually managed to build a reasonable amount of social proof.

These two girls were there to dance, but were basically being bugged by guys the whole time. I tapped one on the shoulder and kind of outdid them on the dance moves that they were doing (ridiculous sort of Footloose stuff). I didn't think anything of it until later, when they came up to me at closing time and said that I was really cool and they really enjoyed meeting me. At this point I was more interested in bumming a cigarette so I bid them farewell.

When I went outside, there was nobody I could bum a smoke from. So fuck it, I just left. And there they were, just a few feet away walking the same way. I yelled their names and jogged up, and they said they were just talking about how cool I was. Amazing, right? Well, they were going to area X and I was going to area Y. And this is where I fucked everything up.

These girls were both HB7 I think. And I said oh right, there's a subway stop you can take; I'll go up the street because I need to take X train. FUCK. In hindsight, they were both way into me and may even have been roommates. This is what I should have said: "Take me with you, but I have conditions. I kiss at least one of you, preferably both of you, and I get a spot in someone's bed." This might sound pushy but these girls were giving me explicit and complete, if not totally sexual, IOIs. I ended up wishing them goodnight and walking to my subway stop. And I've been kicking myself ever since.

So in the end I fucked up a great and easy chance, just because I was feeling drunk and careless and not really thinking about game or strategy or even what I wanted. I did a great job of maintaining my frame all night, even after going out to a club by myself (which was a challenge for me). But then I had fool's mates and fucked it all up. The lesson? Jesus, keep your eyes on the prize.

UPDATE: Woke up and saw a Missed Connection from them on Craigslist (first I've seen). So not a total loss but I kind of felt like I could have pulled both of them last night. Don't think I'll have that chance any time soon.
