Hey guys, I want to get your thoughts on balancing excitability and passion versus speaking in a cool, calm way.

I'm a fast talker, even in a neutral emotional state. I'm developing a slower pace of speech, and it sounds really calm and confident.

I'm also an excitable person. Whenever I meet someone that I discover likes the same authors as me, similar music and hobbies etc, I become engaged in the conversation and naturally get excited. This means I start talking and gesturing enthusiastically.

When this happens, I start talking even faster, and I sometimes stutter. At this point, my passion for those things is clearly conveyed, but the fast talking and stuttering makes me seem a little less confident.

As I develop and make a habit of a slower pace of speech, I'm finding that the way you say things affects your emotional state, ie if you talk slowly and clearly, you'll feel calm. As it becomes a habit my personality might change in that direction as well. But I also want to ensure that I convey enthusiasm and passion, because that's attractive.

So, how do I balance passion/enthusiasm (from the excitable aspect of my personality) against the cool, calm pace of speaking?
