No. Stand your ground. The creation of this reddit post already shows you understand the morality issue that’s arising. If the woman doesn’t understand it’s not okay to sleep over when you have a daughter who is 14, then clearly she hasn’t the conscious reasoning you’d like in a person you would date. Tell her why you think it’s inappropriate for her to stay over (kindly) and see what she says. If her answer does not match yours or no compromise is made then there are more problems that will arise and they’ll manifest in different ways, but you will see the pattern. There is no morality issue here, his daughter is 14 not 8. She knows where babies come from. Humans are born naked and everyone alive is the result of sexual reproduction... Stop making shit weird.

Tell your daughter you're having a date over and that your date might spend the night. Tell her if she feels weird about it she can go to a movie and you'll pay for movie & uber etc...

She's old enough to have romantic interest herself and having her dad act all weird about it does her no benefit. Make sure she had speakers in her room or whatever so she can put on music.

I think the main thing for Dad here is to OWN being a man. As long as his date feels comfortable. The next priority is making sure he has the kind of relationship with his daughter where she respects him as a man and encourages his continued happiness. If he's a strong leader maybe she can receive even some positive lessons from her father modeling a respectful loving interpersonal relationship between a man and a woman. People talk about daughters without fathers but they seem to miss the message that daughter's also needs model of how a man treats a woman. I know daughters of fathers who were openly romantic toward their mothers and making out etc... they were supportive and would leave the room they are now in healthy loving romantic relationships. It's fine if she feels weird as long as she also feels safe opening a dialogue with dad and knows she is safe and will be heard. It creates teachable moments to talk about love, consent, sex, dating, contraceptives, respect, communication. I honestly think dad misses a huge opportunity to connect with his daughter on a very real, vulnerable, open and human level, by not taking this chance.

Both my parent were very open about sex and romance. I learned about sexual assault from my mom and the things that had happened to her. She spoke openly about women's issues and FGM. My dad when I became a man told me about heartbreak and infidelity and told me the story of all the women he had ever been with, I had asked questions and he checked in with me to measure what I was okay receiving and what I was not. I will forever be grateful to my parent for being so open and honest. There were times I felt uncomfortable but I never felt unprepared, and I'll think preparing kids to make consensual sexual choices they wont later regret is of far greater importance than momentarty discomfort

This depends more on your situation. Recently divorced? Separated years? Only op knows.

I could see it an issue if your in a studio and daughter is crashing, but not like a teen daughter is gonna wake up middle of the night to try and climb in your bed to be surprised to see a lady.

I would def tell the date though and should be a good guage of how comfortable she is.
