In the past I have opened sets with fairly long winded opinion openers, and they seemed to hook fairly well. My trouble now is that I am starting to sarge in really loud clubs (these have a higher number of targets in). This means that long winded opinion openers are out. If the opener is too long I will need to repeat it, which often kills it.

Here are some examples of short openers I tried the other week:

  • What do you think of turning up to a club in a hired limo? Classy or trashy?

  • Are flowers and an expensive dinner too much on a first date?

  • Are you from xxx? (Used on foreign looking girls, of which there are many).

The third one can actually hook fairly well. The first too seem to get one word answers quite often and don't seem to hook well. I need something that will start a bit of a conversation and give me something to work with. Any ideas (field tested stuff only please).
