In an attempt to sound witty to a girl who said, "Hi", I said something along the lines of "Hi you might know [mutual friend], I'm her better friend." She looked taken aback when my friend immediately pointed out, "that was a dumb things to say", he went up to the girl, said "hi" and introduced himself. Neither of us got anywhere. However, Im normally a SAP and I seemed to have crossed the jerk-line here. Problem is, I can't get over thinking about this stupid mistake. how embarrassing this is, and how much of a tool I came across as. Are mistakes like this common? I'm thinking the best thing to do here is to forget about it as soon as possible. I still have so much to learn...
