Don't come off as too needy, just say it loud enough to hear, but with not a lot of energy. don't be too invested in it, just a way to make yourself a little known. give a little smile, a nod, say it

I'm assuming this is with people you've met before in class? if it's like random people in a large lecture that have never met you, maybe

hey! (snap, point, pause) 9am monday psych, right?

Then give a comment, go into a story that shows a bit of value. Or talk about you were wondering "what the heck psych has to do with my major", etc. But don't go into interview questions or ask her name, etc.

But also, I'm assuming you're dressing well? You're leaving a lot up to either 1) first impressions or 2) social intuition. If you don't have much of (2) then your first impression better be good, or else she won't really have any reason to want to chat with you again.

Sometimes if it's a good acquaintance of mine I'll grab them in a hug or grab their shoulder and mention how I haven't seen them in forever, and how life has been for them (even if I just saw them the other day). It generally gets a good response if you play it over the top.

Otherwise, I just ask them how they are, or comment on something, whether it's to neg them or just a compliment. If I'm seeing them in the hallway, I generally keep the conversations short and interesting. I mean, I've got places to be, and I'm sure she's going somewhere too. Leaving a conversation a little early shows that you have your own life you're leading and if the conversation was good, it'll leave them wanting a little more.
