Hey! Just been lurking for a couple weeks so I thought I'd contribute something.
I've been trying to incorporate more confidence into my game lately and in some ways its worked, and in others... I still need a bit more work ;)
I got off work really late, and I was going to be playing catch up with my buddies but I got some help from a beautiful little angel in the form of an HB8 from my work. Cute girl, has a boyfriend and we don't talk all that often but out of nowhere she offered me a ride so I didn't have to make the half hour walk. YES! I still can't figure out if she is into me (there's more of a story behind this thought) or just being a good friend, but that is a move I never saw coming and I'll have to work that avenue in the future. Only one road block, and my first lesson of the night:
- As I was getting out of the car, after some awkward goodbyes about making plans to run into each other if we both get downtown, my brain turned off and I produced the gem "...See you later, man." Fuck. I immediately kicked myself in the ass. I never want to do that again. Whats a good way to close a situation like that? And on top of that I'd be interested to hear some of the stories you guys have on your way to being the PUA's you are where you put your foot directly in your mouth and had an.. "oh shit" moment.
I didn't let it bother me and met up with a friend and a couple of his friends and had a few drinks. Like I said, I was playing this all very late so I had to do everything quickly. I parted from them for a bit, went to another party to see some good friends who were in town, made some plans with them for future weekends (you might here more from me if these plans work out) and then went downtown to meet up with the first group who were at the pub having some food and drink. This is where it gets good.
The moment I walk in my friends-friend comes up to me and says "Are you a smooth talker? cause I just bought that table of girls a pitcher of beer, lets go" Fuck, I'm not even out of the cold and thrust right into the fire. So, I figure I'm just playing wingman, cause I havent even seen the girls yet and we approach a booth with two lovely ladies and a pitcher of beer. I let him take his side and snuggle myself up to the other. We chat and I open her up, this is literally my first time and I'm doing pretty well, she's a couple years older then me and I try to extinguish any fears that shes a cougar. She's getting close and shes teasing my sweet movember moustache and complimenting my pretty eyes, I'm having a great time. The other guy, not so much. I was letting him do his thing but I'd glance over from time to time and it didn't look like it was going so well. Here's the second lesson learned of the night:
- I guess he tried to compensate for lack of conversation by buying drinks. Cause next thing I know we are taking tequila shot after tequila shot and I can tell the girls are getting a bit uncomfortable. He buys another pitcher before the first is even done and I'm trying to help by keeping everyone excited and drinking but its already last-call and we're drowning here. To make a long story a little less long, they excuse themselves to the bathroom, never to be seen again. Oh well, I learned a lot firsthand! First, talking > money. I learned after once he started talking to his girl she said that she had a husband and he couldn't keep a convo with her, and resorted to buying drinks to lubricate the process. If I was a better wingman I may have picked up on this and be able to rectify the situation. Either way, I came up with an idea if this similar situation happens again.
Musical chairs: next time, I'll playfully switch girls, I could easily chat with a married woman while he works on the single friend. Once I get talking I could talk about anything, and really, its just about distraction until the other guy can close. Plus, you get to meet more people!
Another take-away was, keep an eye on the situation. Things were spiraling out of control while I was keeping things up with my girl, if I had more awareness I could have either helped the situation or at the very least #-close the girl when she got up. At first it didn't occur to me that they weren't coming back but almost immediately after they left it hit me. I keep thinking I could have easily just squeezed a # out of her and at least had something to show for the effort. Oh well!
Thanks for listening guys, I really just wanted to get this all out so I could stop rolling it over in my head, analyzing every angle and hear what you guys think about it. Its a first step into (hopefully) better luck with 'the game' and I'm just glad I got out there and did something.
**Just a quick recap: Do - talk, talk, talk. Keep an eye on the situation and control it. Keep within your alcohol limit so that you can do all of these things.
Dont - Try to rectify a situation by buying more alcohol. Thank the beautiful girl by calling her "man". Drink to much and forget all of these things.**
