I personally look for girls that are on their phones and all them out on it...easy opener. The problem is that girls generally aren't going to open you. Get your ass to a different scene if you don't feel comfortable just walking up and grinding (I can't do it either).

Girls are bred by evolution to follow a male lead in these contexts. If you walk up to a girl, place a hand on her hip, and start dancing, 60%+ of the time she'll turn around and start grinding on you.

for me most parties don't work, because i don't think that the music there is made for dancing. find a party that works for you, dance like you don't give a fuck what people are thinking; use different moves. just don't be stiff. throw some lines about a song that you really like to the girls next to you, no need to do more. girls will be there. when you are dancing with one, and it is getting closer, throw her a confident smile. said smile can be acquired by imagining, that she named her dildo after you and masturbates with it.

Don't bother using pick up lines if your on the dance floor. Find a girl whos not dancing with anyone, grab her hips and start dancing.

My biggest problem was being too scared to do that. Either drink more until you don't care, or just go for it. You really have nothing to loose. Just keep at it.

Frat boy here. Watch this, and next time get sufficiently wasted. Intoxication can be an effective crutch early on, and is socially accepted, if not expected, in such situations.
